Great Emu Warは、1932年の後半にオーストラリアで実施された野生動物管理の軍事作戦で、西オーストラリアのCampion地区でアモスの数が激増しているとの懸念に対処しました。オーストラリアの土着の大きな無飛行鳥であるエモスの人口を抑制するための失敗した試みは、マスコミをリードするルイスの銃で武装した兵士を雇い、「エモーの戦争」という名前を採用しました。いくつかの鳥が殺されましたが、エモの人口は持続し、作物破壊を引き起こし続けました。

The Great Emu War was a nuisance wildlife management military operation undertaken in Australia over the latter part of 1932 to address public concern over the number of emus said to be running amok in the Campion district of Western Australia. The unsuccessful attempts to curb the population of emus, a large flightless bird indigenous to Australia, employed soldiers armed with Lewis guns—leading the media to adopt the name "Emu War" when referring to the incident. While a number of the birds were killed, the emu population persisted and continued to cause crop destruction.
